Discover the heart of Tuscany
Montepulciano: the land of "Vino Nobile", considered one of the top Tuscan wines in the world, where the Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana meet. This beautiful medieval village will charm you with ist mighty Renaissance palaces: at the highest point of the city, you will find the main piazza, Piazza Grande, which is dominated by the beautiful tower and the Gothic-façade of the Palazzo Comunale. Discover wonderful landscaper strolling through these streets or soak in the hot sulphurous waters at the nearby Thermal Spa.
Chianciano Terme is divided into two areas: the “old town” and “the baths”. There are quite different: the modern part is a tourist centre, internationally known for its thermal pools, its conference centres, hotels and shops. The old town maintains its architectural heritage and traditions from Etruscan-Roman times. Do not miss the Collegiate Church, which contains a Crucifix dating from 1100 and the beautiful church of Madonna della Rosa, just beyond the Porta al Sole, outside the old town.
Siena is a gem of Tuscany, a city full of history and art. Its main tourist attraction is the breathtakingly beautiful Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful medieval architecture of Italy. The most striking expression is the Palio, a twice-yearly occurrence in which the city's neighbourhoods, known as contrade, compete in an audacious horse race around the piazza del Campo. But even if you're not in town during the Palio days, you can still soak up the atmosphere by visiting the many museums ran by each of the contrade.
Pienza is known as the city of Pope Pius II, Enea Silvio Piccolomini. It is a perfect example of "Renaissance ideal city", based on beauty. Due to its peculiar characteristics, in 1996, together with the whole Val d'Orcia, Pienza was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
